caring for others

Caring for Others…

Coaching isn’t just a job for me.  It’s also my calling and passion for a powerful technique to see change happen within people’s lives to bring a fullness and clarity.  I shared with you my story of coming to coaching a while back.  But when I was talking recently with another coach, I realized I wanted to take the time to share with you why I coach the people I do.

There is so much variety in coaching and the situations that people are in when I come alongside of them to be a part of their journey.  I was hesitant at first to narrow my focus.  However, I realized as I worked with people and moved through coaching that I was being called to work with women who care for others.  My calling and specialty is to work with women like moms, family caregivers, and other women that provide hands on day to day care for others.

Let me share my heart with you for these women.  I have a love and compassion for these women that is very deeply a part of who I am.  Providing hands on care for others is one of the hardest jobs out there.  It can be so rewarding and be such an outpouring of love.  It is a way to take care of and provide for someone in a way that no one else can.  However, it is also one of the most physically, socially, and emotionally taxing roles that anyone can take on.

Just as I have the calling of journeying alongside of women who care for others.  Caring for others is also very much a calling.  And there are many challenges that can come up in caring for others.    Challenges like:

*Navigating the best way to care for someone

*Finding time and a way to rest as the caregiver

*Knowing how to prioritize how your time and energy is spent

*Seeing God’s best in your life for the role

*Making time to be re-energized spiritually, physically, emotionally, and socially

*Navigating relationship struggles that can come up in these roles

*Knowing who you are separate from this calling

As I write, about the challenges that come with caring for others, I feel a welling up of emotion.  I know what it is to be a mother and experience these struggles.  And I have also walked with friends, family, and clients as they have navigated these challenges.  I have such a deep compassion and love for working with women to overcome these challenges.  We use techniques to help with:

*Maximizing your time and energy

*Discovering where the wiggle room is in being yourself outside of that role

*Being intentional about incorporating joy in everyday

*Making care and rest for yourself a priority and finding ways to do that

*Overcoming relationship struggles that come up

*Working through boundaries with those you are caring for

*Seeing a vision for your calling in this role

*Finding space to make God a priority

*Knowing when to say “yes” and when to say “no”

Then the result that women find working on these areas often include things like:

*Renewed joy and understanding of your role and calling

*New understanding and ways to work with other stakeholders in the care process

*Better health since time is made for rest and self-care

*New understanding of the whole picture and how caring for others fits in to that

*Systems in place to have spiritual, emotional, physical, and social care for you be a regular part of life

*Renewed energy for the things that you most want to be a part of

*Ability to cope with expectations that have that you have for yourself and others have for you

This calling to work with women caring for others is makes it so exciting for me to get up in the morning.  Thank you for letting me share a little of my heart with you.  Take the next step.  If you have someone in your life that is feeling challenged by her role caring for someone else, please encourage them to seek out coaching.  Share my information with them or contact me so I can answer your questions.
